Photo tutorial - Wishing on a star

Dutch floral designer Roos van Unen created a beautiful 'Wishing on a star' plant arrangement with the lush flowering Phalaenopsis variety ‘Boquetto Beauty’ by Opti-flor. As this plant blooms for weeks on end, it’s a design that will last long after the festive days are over.

Materials
Phalaenopsis ‘Boquetto Beauty’, a piece of OSB, nails (large and small ones), different types of thread, a white container.

Preparations
Keep tools like a jigsaw, hammer, hot glue gun and scissors within reach. Draw a star on the OSB and use a jigsaw to cut out the shape. Use the container to draw the right size circle on the OSB and again, use the jigsaw to cut out this center.

Step 1
Use the large size nails around the circle to provide grip for the threads. Use the smaller nails around the outside lines of the star. Make sure you divide the nails evenly.

Step 2
Tie a piece of thread on one of the large nails and start weaving. You can do this randomly, making sure all nails are used at some point. Leave the circle in the middle free from threads, as this spot is reserved for the container with the Phalaenopsis. Vary with the threads during this weaving process. This will give you the best result.

Step 3
Once your star is done, place the container in the center and use hot glue to connect it with the OSB. Place in the 'Boquetto Beauty' et voila; a beautiful design to brighten up the dark winter months ahead.
