With big and beautiful cut Hydrangea flowers by Hydrangea World and pieces of old jeans, Pim van den Akker creates a cool denim and 'Ultra Violet' flower arrangement. With 'Ultra Violet' being the Pantone's picks as the trend colour for 2018, this design is right on trend!
MATERIALS
Cut Hydrangea ‘Rodeo’, OASIS floral foam, a simple glass bowl, pieces of driftwood, old jeans fabric.
HOW TO MAKE
Keep tools like knives, scissors and a hot glue gun within reach. Soak the Oasis floral foam well.
Step 1:
Cut strips of the jeans fabric. Make sure they’re long enough to go from one side of the bowl to the other and you’ll have extra at the ends. Put the bowl upside down and use hot glue to attach the strips. Press on firmly and let it dry for a moment. Turn the bowl back up again and place the Oasis floral foam inside.
Step 2:
Cut the Oasis floral foam to size and smooth out the sharp edges of the foam. Add extra water to ensure the flowers will have plenty. Tie some of the loose ends of the jeans fabric into knots.
Step 3:
Remove all the leaves from the Hydrangea as the leaves use up a lot of water. Cut the stems with a sharp knife at a 45 degrees angle, so they can hydrate as much as possible. Cut the Hydrangeas real short as you want them to sit close to the floral foam. Tie the leftover loose ends of the jeans fabric together, going over the Hydrangeas.
Step 4:
Cover any gaps with pieces of driftwood. As this wood is very light, it won’t crush the flowers.
Done! A beautiful and cool design for you or your customer to enjoy.
